“Sled Dogs in the Northern Light” is the first of a series of articles in the online newspaper, The Anipal Times, about the lives of sled dogs, a subject made recently very controversial in light of the publicity over the purposeful killing of 100 sled dogs in Whistler, British Columbia.

The writer interviews the vice president of a sled dog rescue organization in Fairbanks, Alaska, the president of MUSH with Pride, and the founder of the Canadian/Intl.Sled Dog Coalition in this introductory article. Very interesting and balanced.

Looks like we won’t be able to see the killer full moon eclipse in Gemini in L.A., even though this would be the best place to see it - because it’s going to be raining until Thursday!

Regardless of whether or not you can see it, astrologically speaking, this is the time (between the full eclipsed moon and the new moon …on Jan. 4) for endings and beginnings to ‘take.’ This is the night to pull out that special candle you’ve been saving for… something special. Light a candle during the eclipse, between 10:30pm and 2am PT, and meditate on which old patterns you want to break and what you want to begin. The effects of the eclipse are magnified by taking place on the winter solstice.

According to Vedic philosophy, you should bathe during a lunar eclipse, fast and meditate (especially chanting). Most Hindus also donate to charity during an eclipse, and clean their homes after an eclipse.

A total full moon eclipse may evoke strong emotions, family drama, some kind of chaos, major change, relationship issues. Understand that we’re all literally under a lot of pressure, and things just under the surface will be coming up. These things are generally all necessary and for the best.

All in all it’s a very good time.
